Biography

Robert Harrison received his BFA in ceramics from the University of Manitoba and his MFA from the University of Denver. He was appointed Ceramics Department Head and Assistant Professor of Art at Gonzaga University, Spokane, Washington, where he taught from 1981 to 1983. From 1983 to 1985 Robert was a Resident Artist at the Archie Bray Foundation, Helena, Montana. In 1985 he accepted the position of Assistant Head of the Ceramics Program at the Banff Centre for the Arts, Alberta, Canada, and from 1988 to 1989 was Acting Head of the Banff Centre's Ceramics Program.

Since 1989 Harrison has been an independent studio artist, living and working in Helena, Montana. His site-specific sculptures are located throughout the United States including sites such as the Kohler Sculpture Park, Kohler, Wisconsin; The Archie Bray Foundation, Helena, Montana, and Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art, Great Falls, Montana. Harrison's site-specific installations include the Holter Museum of Art, Helena, Montana and the University of South Australia Museum of Art, Adelaide, Australia.
